The Spiral Mountains

Like a wildly raging hurricane, the Spiral Mountains twist their way far into the clouds, rising higher than anything else on Lumin. Deriving their name from their unique spiral shape, the story behind the mountains is as tumultuous as the geography itself. Sitting near the center of Lumin’s only major continent, the Spiral Mountains are a product of what were once two massive tectonic plates that chaotically collided in a meteor-induced infusion of spinning molten rock. Eventually, as the formerly individual plates grinded their way to a single moltified resting place, the large whirlpools of magma cooled into the hurricane like Spiral Mountains we know today.
Due to its large concentration on the coasts of the two previous plates, the Spiral Mountains have an abundance of the glowing blue mineral Luminite. Because of the Luminites’ energy retaining capabilities, the Spiral Mountains are a highly charged source of electricity on the planet, which made it the ideal place for the first explorers on Lumin to settle and build New Dawn, a town attributed to a new age of prosperity.
Often piercing the clouds as high as 20,000 feet above ground, the Spiral Mountains tower above open fields of tree and grass. Dark trunked evergreens of a deep green, many taller than the tallest buildings on the planet, cast heavy shadows on the grassy fields of human sized Monsterra grass below, nearly hiding the ultra-dark, nutrient rich soil that is the forest floor.

But known by visitors and residents, the true beauty of the mountain range comes alive at night, when massive skies open to an explosion of stars and glowing magnetic blue Voltaea clouds far above. Combined with the moonlight blue glow of the stones, nighttime in the Spiral Mountains is legendary for bringing an alive and inviting moonlight blue warmth all the way down to the forest floor, and making any traveler feel like they have discovered a never ending source of adventure.
