The Forest of Radiance

Like an effervescent parasite passionately bent on infecting your mind, the Forest of Radiance digs deep into one’s own psychology, injecting it with sicknesses that rot deep. Anxiety, guilt, hallucinations, or even pure psychosis, the forest works to contaminate the human mind and achieve its own malicious way of survival. As expressed by many who’ve entered the harrowing land, it seems as though the world toys with its victims, inflicting them with prolonged torment. Dark canyon walls trap a veiling thick fog of a glowing magnetic red that devilishly swirls with a suffocating black smoke like haze reminiscent of a toxin heavy fire. Although the upper layer of daytime clouds is so thick it blocks even the most desperate of casted sunlight from reaching the blood red soil of the forest floor, the land remains lit. Tinted in a bright red that radiates from the wicked relative of the planets Voltaea clouds high above, the land is silhouetted with twisted trees, building sized mushrooms, and claustrophobia inducing canyons that tower high above. Life has taken desperate turns here, with next level defense mechanisms that seem severe even on Lumin. Plants fill the forest, but they are far from chlorophyllic green that drives awe and beauty with just a glance. Some plants, like the disturbing monstrous creatures found in the land, roam freely with minds of their own… with a yearn for blood. Others dispel gasses that have been known to kill entire squads of researchers with a single outward puff. Although nobody asks, there are constant reminders of how desperately the world wants to kill.
The Forest of Radiance has long intrigued Luminologists, as its effect on the human mind is nearly unexplainable. Only partially understood as a unique form of chemical magnetism that radiates from pretty much everything, the Forest of Radiance is the center of many scientific debates. While most scientists agree on how it affects the mind, nobody agrees on why it affects the mind. Some claim a form of devilish evil that keeps the box of worldly wickedness wide open. Others claim it is a severe side effect of the Branch Meteor, which struck the very land thousands of years prior, setting off a wicked twist of events that eventually gave rise to what some can only call unholy. But the one thing that everybody can agree on is that adventuring into the forest is highly against recommendation… Unless a gambit in the nefarious is what’s sought.
